Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in both film, television and the theatre. Her most well-known role is Teri Joe, the flamboyant lawyer on The Showtime series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name after she married. She was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland. In her early years as an infant, she showed the desire to act and was awarded the Best Actress Award in the Maryland High School Competition. After her experience in the theater as well as with "The Washington Ballet Company" and "The Washington Ballet Company", she earned an acting certificate from New York University. Born to Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria until the age of seven. Contractor was well-versed in world travels and a variety of different cultures from a young age. From the age of seven to nine, the young lady attended boarding schools in London. Her family then moved to Toronto which she stayed in throughout her early years. Contractor had a great academic career throughout her time in Toronto while also training as ballerina. She went to the Etobicoke School of the Arts. This is a specialized high school that teaches arts which allowed her to not just study theater but danced as well. Contractor was dancing for more than 10 years when she started when she decided to pursue acting. When she graduated from high school she received a full-time grant to attend at the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in theater and a dual major in psychology and sociology. Contractor was given the lead role in Pericles following her one year stay at the University. She auditioned for it at Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian critics praised her performance during 92 performances of Pericles. Contractor accepted an invitation to attend Stratford's Conservatory program. There are only eight males and four females are admitted to a course of 20 weeks of classical theater. The actor's involvement in the upcoming season of plays was confirmed, and she was cast in the role in Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
